My cousin Diane Leonarski(Stage name Diana Lyons) was the dancer on Jackie’s left while he danced with them. I remember watching with my mother when I was really little and she’d point & say “There’s Diane!” and I’d be soooo thrilled. Well, about as thrilled as a 2 year old can be!
Love the ads.
Always such beautiful women in Jackie’s supporting cast. Who was the third girl in the opening. . . holding the little dog and promoting Purina Dog Chow? Thanks, Jackie, for so many great shows.
@brubbing1
That is definitely Johnny Olson; I’d recognize that voice anywhere.
I can really enjoy Melancholy Serenade, anyday.
Jackie’s “coffee girl” in this clip used to post messages. I hope she returns.
Fantastic! Kids nowadays have no idea what they’ve missed since the TV variety show bit the dust. I can’t recall realizing I was watching Jackie from NYC, but the Miami Beach shows remain in my brain!
@1rarefish I second that. I remember seeing this.
(Uh-uh, I still won’t tell my age, LOLOLOL).
When the show moved to Miami, I am told that the place it was taped in was so cavernous, and the acoustics so miserable, that a crew member had to be in the recesses of the place, to start the crowd laughing ahead of the Great One’s punchlines.
Johnny Olsen WAS Jackie’s announcer during the ’60s, going with him to Miami Beach in ‘64, commuting between there and New York while continuing as Goodson-Todman’s announcer on their various game shows as well ["WHAT'S MY LINE?", etc. ].
How sweet he was. . . How we miss the “great one”
friggin awesome
Ok– her sister Carole tells me that she’s the dancer on the right of Jackie as you watch. . .
My cousin Dianne was a June Taylor Dancer. When I was reeeaaallly little we weused to watch & my mom would say “Look, there’s Dianne!” I got such a kick outta that. I can’t pick her out here but I know she was blonde.
I meant to type “Olson. “
The opening announcer was definitely Johnny Olso.
I’m pretty sure it’s Johnny Olson. Jack Lescoulie was Gleasons announcer during the 50’s, and was a fill in for Olson for American Scene Magazine and moved with Jackie to Miami Beach.
I may be totally wrong, but isn’t it Johnny Olson?
All the kids on the street would leave the grass chiggers and run home to watch the Honeymooners (before air conditioned houses). Do you remember the announcer’s name?
The initials are J. L.
There will NEVER be another Great One. . . he was the absolute best. . . period!
seeing the girls dancing as a kid would really get the hyperactivity going !
You were right on the 2nd thing, he did say- shout, actually- “Miami Beach audiences are the greatest audiences in the world! Goodnight, everybody!” (cue Melancholy Serenade)
There are some interesting bios of Gleason out, and like every comedy genius, he was no barrel of laughs in real life.
defundthewar your probably right!

No, Miami Beach was “the sun and fun capital of the world” if I remember correctly.
A Marlboro comercial!
