Where can I find funding assistance for a poverty stricken community to help it start a recreation program?

This small town had to abandon its recreation program when two of its largest employers closed their doors. They have lost 25% of their tax base. The need for recreation is still there and there has recently been a large influx of spanish speaking citizens.

Boy’s Club of America, YMCA, United Way, NAACP, would be a good place to start. Your not going to get anything out of the Conservatives; because they are against all of that.
There are many government grants published on a regular basis for just this very kind of thing. You need to find someone experienced in searching for them and writing grant proposals to donate their time and efforts to your cause.
In the meantime, talk to the county you’re in about programs they have. Write letters to large corporations like Wal-Mart and other industries in neighboring areas. They usually have budgets set aside for community activism.
